Madrasa student dies after falling into canal in Chattogram

A 12-year-old madrasa student drowned after falling into the Rajkhali canal in Rangunia, Chattogram, on Saturday morning.

The deceased, Mohammad Minhaj, was the son of Mohammad Ibrahim of Khatibnagar area. He was a Hifz student at Islampur Taiyebia Taheria Chattaria Sunnia Madrasa.

Locals said Minhaj went out with a friend after leaving his bicycle at home. While walking along the canal bank, he suddenly fell into the water. His friend saw him drowning and raised the alarm. Locals later rescued him and took him to Rangamati Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police later went to the scene after receiving information about the incident.
