OC Monirul receives PPM medal for bravery

Police Inspector Monirul Islam Bhuiyan has received the prestigious President Police Medal (PPM) for bravery in arresting terrorists and murder suspects and recovering local and foreign-made firearms and ammunition.

The medal was handed over to him at the Police Week 2026 award ceremony held at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium on Saturday (September 26). Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed presented BPM and PPM medals to 98 police personnel in recognition of their courageous, heroic and service-oriented work.

According to sources, Monirul served at Raozan Police Station in Chattogram and Ramu Police Station in Cox’s Bazar from January 2025 to February 1, 2026. During this period, he led several important operations.

While serving at Raozan Police Station, he led a risky operation to arrest Mamun, the prime accused and a top criminal in the Jahangir murder case, recovering a foreign-made revolver from him. His team also arrested several associates of top criminal Raihan and recovered foreign-made firearms and ammunition.

The operations resulted in the recovery of 12 foreign-made firearms and nearly 500 rounds of ammunition. Around 30 arms cases were filed in connection with nearly 100 weapon-recovery incidents.

Monirul also played a role in maintaining law and order, arresting suspects in various cases and strengthening police-public relations. He had earlier received the IGP Badge in 2024 in recognition of his professional performance.

He is currently serving at the Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police’s office.
