Three nabbed over garage robbery 

MUNSHIGANJ, Sept 26: Police have arrested three suspects and recovered 95 stolen auto-rickshaw batteries worth about Tk 10.50 lakh following a violent garage heist in Louhajang Upazila of the district.

The raid occurred around 3 am on September 19 at the “Sureswar Faruk” garage near the Mawa old ferry terminal under Padma Bridge North Police Station. A masked gang of three to four individuals broke in, tied up night guard Masum, and threatened him at knifepoint before fleeing with 95 old batteries and 22 chargers loaded into an unknown pickup truck.

Following a case filed on September 24, police tracked down and arrested Md Masud, 33, in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area that evening, recovering the stolen batteries. Masud confessed to purchasing them for Tk 6.74 lakh from Aslam Sheikh, 38, owner of Aslam Cycle Store in Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj.

Authorities subsequently arrested Aslam Sheikh, who faces four prior narcotics cases, and Sajib Fakir, 29, of Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj, who confessed to his involvement during interrogation.
