4 AL activists detained after flash rally in Dhanmondi

At least four activists of banned Awami League (AL) were detained after a flash procession in Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur in the capital on Saturday.

Police detained three people in connection with the rally in Dhanmondi Police Station (PS) area and another in Mohammadpur PS area.

The rally was held around noon in front of Bata showroom at Dhanmondi-27 under a banner identifying Mohammadpur PS unit of AL. 

Several crude bombs were also exploded during the programme. Dhanmondi PS Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Imdadul Islam Tawhid confirmed the incident. He said AL leaders and activists took part in the rally and exploded crude bombs.

Locals said the procession started near Ibn Sina Hospital and moved towards the Bata outlet on Dhanmondi Road-27. Police chased the participants after they reached the area. Mohammadpur PS OC Abdul Halim said police detained a man named Imran while he was fleeing the area following the rally and explosions.
