Hanging body of expatriate’s wife recovered in Pabna

Police recovered the hanging body of a 22-year-old woman from her home in Atgharia upazila of Pabna on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Champa Khatun, wife of Aslam Hossain of Shibpur village under Ekdanta Union. Her husband is currently living in Malaysia.
The body was recovered from her room around noon on Sunday (September 27). Police initially suspected that she may have died four to five days earlier.
According to local residents, people living nearby noticed a foul smell coming from the area around the house on Sunday. After informing others, residents went to the house and found Champa Khatun hanging from an electric ceiling fan inside her room.
Police were subsequently informed and recovered the body from the scene.
Family members said Champa had been suffering from mental health problems. Local residents suspected that she may have died by suicide several days earlier. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
Amir Uddin, a local Union Parishad member, confirmed the incident and said neighbours first noticed the unusual smell before discovering the body.
Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge ( OC) of Atgharia Police Station, said police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy.
“The exact cause of death could not be determined initially. The actual cause will be known after receiving the autopsy report,” the OC said.
