A Dhaka court has barred former Naogaon-3 MP Mohammad Salim Uddin Torofdar and his wife Shamima Akter Shirin from travelling abroad over allegations of acquiring assets beyond their known sources of income.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Shahjahan Kabir passed the order on Sunday, according to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam.
The ACC has filed a case against the couple, accusing them of acquiring and possessing assets worth Tk 1.68 crore beyond their known sources of income.
ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the application seeking the travel ban.
According to the application, the accused may flee the country, which could hinder the collection of important records and disrupt the investigation.
The application also alleged that Salim Uddin abused his position and influence and provided financial assistance with dishonest intentions while serving as a public servant.
The ACC filed the case with its Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, on July 16, 2025, under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Section 109 of the Penal Code.
