Bangladesh issues travel warning for Nepal

The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has issued a travel advisory urging Bangladeshi tourists to exercise caution and avoid disaster-prone areas in Nepal following heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides.

In a statement released late Sunday (September 27) night, the embassy advised all Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to refrain from traveling to affected regions until weather and ground conditions improve.

Special precautions are advised for high-density tourist areas including Pisang, Chame, Manang, and surrounding spots, where severe weather has triggered landslides, heavy snowfall, and road blockages.

Difficult terrain and disrupted communication channels have hampered local rescue operations in remote locations.

Nepali authorities have suspended trekking in key areas of Manang, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La, and Bhimthang.

Travelers bound for Pokhara and surrounding areas face similar disruptions, while those heading toward Mustang and Jomsom are advised to verify road conditions across Gandaki Province before departure.

The embassy instructed Bangladeshi citizens planning trips to Annapurna, Manang, Mustang, and Manaslu to verify all travel details and strictly adhere to directives issued by the Nepal government.

Tourists currently in vulnerable areas are urged to seek safe shelter, stay clear of riverbanks and landslide-prone slopes, and maintain regular contact with travel operators and the embassy.

The Bangladesh Embassy confirmed it is monitoring the situation alongside local authorities and will release updates as necessary.
