The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has advised Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to avoid areas in Nepal affected by heavy rainfall, floods and landslides until weather and overall conditions improve.
In a warning issued on Sunday night (September 27), the embassy urged Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to exercise caution and reconsider travel plans based on the situation.
It specifically advised travellers to remain extra cautious in and around Pisang, Chame and Manang. Continued rainfall has triggered landslides, while snowfall has disrupted road communications in many areas. The difficult terrain and disrupted communication networks have also made rescue operations extremely challenging.
Authorities have already suspended trekking in several parts of Manang, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La and Bimthang.
The embassy also advised caution when travelling to Pokhara and surrounding areas, as landslides have disrupted road connections and access to nearby trekking destinations.
Bangladeshi travellers heading to Mustang, Jomsom and other mountainous areas have been advised to check road conditions in Gandaki Province before travelling, as roads may be disrupted at short notice.
The embassy urged Bangladeshi citizens to verify all available information before planning trekking, mountaineering or travel to mountainous and landslide-prone areas, including Annapurna, Manang, Mustang and the Manaslu region, and to closely follow instructions issued by the Nepalese government and local authorities.
Bangladeshi citizens already travelling in high-risk areas have been advised to stay in safe locations, avoid riverbanks and landslide-prone areas, check road and weather conditions before travelling, and remain in regular contact with travel operators and the embassy.
The embassy said it is monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with Nepalese authorities. It will issue further updates as necessary.
