Two children drown in Moulvibazar pond

Two children drowned in a pond in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar on Monday (September 28).

The incident occurred in Gourishankar village of Joychandi Union in the afternoon.

The deceased were Ali Jiban, 8, son of late Abu Mia, and Rahma Begum, 9, daughter of Lokman Mia, both from the village.

Local sources said the children fell into the pond while playing near their homes. Relatives later found their bodies floating in the pond and took them to Kulaura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.

Kulaura Police Station OC Md Zahirul Islam Munna said the bodies were handed over to the families without autopsies as they had no complaints.
