Youth hacked to death in Tongi

A 23-year-old youth named Joy was hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Tongi, Gazipur, on Monday night.
The incident took place around 1am on Tuesday (September 29) in the area of Tongi Railway Station.
Joy was the son of Sirajul Islam from the Bank Math slum area of Tongi.
Police said Joy was returning home late Monday night when several youths attacked him with sharp weapons and fled after killing him.
Local residents later spotted Joy and informed the Tongi Railway Police Outpost. Police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
No one was arrested immediately after the incident. Police initially suspect that the killing may have stemmed from previous enmity.
Investigators are also analysing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify those involved in the killing.
Noor Alam Hossain, in-charge of the Tongi Railway Police Outpost, said a murder case would be filed with the Kamalapur Railway Police Station in Dhaka.
