Motorcyclist killed as truck hits in Gopalganj

A motorcyclist was killed and his wife seriously injured after a truck hit their motorcycle in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Monday.

The accident occurred on Monday (September 28) afternoon in the Char Pathalia area of the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, in front of Dola Petrol Pump.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir Sheikh, 46. His wife sustained serious injuries in the accident

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station said, "Alamgir was leaving the petrol pump after refuelling his motorcycle when the accident occurred."

As the motorcycle entered the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, it collided with a Khulna-bound truck that was entering the petrol pump to refuel.

Alamgir died on the spot, while his wife was critically injured. Local residents rescued her and admitted her to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital.

Police have detained the truck along with its driver, the OC said.
