Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia has urged government officials and employees to complete their daily tasks on the same day to ensure timely public services.
He made the remarks while addressing officials and employees of the district administration on Tuesday.
“Your responsibility is to finish today’s work today because you are sitting in that chair to serve the people,” the DC said, stressing that people no longer have time to visit government offices repeatedly for the same service.
He urged officials to assess their own performance every day and ask whether they had given their best and whether they could have done more.
Zahidul Islam also stressed the need to adapt to rapid technological changes, including artificial intelligence and automation. Referring to his experience in China, he said he had received room service through a robot at a hotel, noting that such technologies would change many conventional jobs.
He said officials should also focus on values and their responsibilities towards society, the country and the environment.
The DC directed officials to implement government priority programmes, including canal excavation, tree plantation, cleanliness and dengue prevention, with transparency, efficiency and within the stipulated time.
He also warned against wasting government funds and stressed the importance of maintaining physical fitness so that officials could work effectively for the state and society.
Zahidul Islam said the district administration remained a trusted institution for people and urged officials to strengthen that trust through timely, responsible, efficient and transparent service.
