Spain dominate Croatia in Nations League behind Yamal's double

World champions Spain extended their unbeaten run to a record 40 matches with a commanding 4-1 victory over Croatia in their UEFA Nations League Group 3 fixture in Seville on Tuesday (September 29) night.
Nineteen-year-old Barcelona star Lamine Yamal led the Spanish attack, scoring two goals and providing an assist in a dominant performance for the home side.
Yamal opened the scoring in the second minute after converting a pass initiated by Alex Baena and dummying through Fermin Lopez, finding the far corner of the net.
Croatia equalized against the run of play in the 28th minute when Dion Drena Beljo headed home a cross from Ivan Perisic to score his first international goal.
Spain restored their lead three minutes later as 23-year-old defender Marc Pubill met Yamal's cross with a towering header to secure his debut goal for the national team, taking a 2-1 advantage into half-time.
In the second half, Yamal extended the lead in the 63rd minute by collecting a through ball from Pedri and beating Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic at the near post, marking his 10th goal and 12th assist in 35 appearances for Spain.
Substitute Nico Williams completed the 4-1 scoreline in the 89th minute, cutting into the box off a Mikel Merino pass to slot the ball home.
Spain controlled 64 per cent of possession and registered seven shots on target compared to Croatia's single shot on goal, consolidating top spot in their Nations League group with six points from three matches.
