Petrobangla secures 19 LNG cargoes for next 2 months

Bangladesh will import 19 cargoes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) over the next two months to meet national energy demand, state agency Petrobangla confirmed.
The imports comprise 10 cargoes scheduled for arrival in October and nine in November.
Petrobangla Chairman Md Abdul Mannan told state news agency BSS that LNG supplies will remain uninterrupted during this period. He noted that total planned imports will ensure smooth gas supply to the national grid.
He added that Petrobangla continuously secures necessary LNG supplies three months in advance to prevent any potential supply shortages.
Petrobangla monitors LNG imports under approval from the Energy Division. Its subsidiary, Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL), manages import processes, cargo scheduling, contract negotiations, and terminal operations.
Official sources from Petrobangla and RPGCL confirmed that of October's 10 cargoes, three will be procured from the spot market, two under long-term contracts, and five under short-term agreements.
For November, six cargoes will be sourced through long-term contracts and three via short-term agreements. The shipments originate from various suppliers, including the US, Nigeria, and Angola.
According to RPGCL data, each cargo contains approximately 3.2 million Million British Thermal Units (MMBtu) of LNG. The 19 cargoes will deliver a total of roughly 60.8 million MMBtu of LNG over the two-month period.
