Bangladesh reports four measles symptom deaths in 24 hours

Four people died from measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,349 new suspected and confirmed cases were reported during the period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this in a press release issued by its control room on Wednesday.

According to the release, 1,221 people were identified with suspected measles symptoms in the past 24 hours.

From March 15 to September 30, the total number of suspected and confirmed measles cases stood at 191,731.

The number of confirmed measles cases reported in the past 24 hours was 128. The total number of confirmed cases from March 15 to September 30 stood at 21,520.

During the same period, 169,800 people with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals, while 162,873 recovered and were discharged.

The four deaths reported in the past 24 hours took the total number of deaths from measles symptoms since March 15 to 1,007.
