‘Opposition shows a different face outside parliament’: Sports minister

Youth and Sports State Minister Md Aminul Haque has criticised Jamaat-e-Islami, alleging that opposition members show a different attitude outside parliament.

Speaking at a sports equipment distribution event in Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria, on Wednesday, he said opposition members claim in parliament that they support the government’s initiatives but “show a different face” outside.

Aminul alleged that Jamaat’s role and conduct outside parliament reflected its position during the Liberation War. He also accused an opposition group of spreading misinformation and working with Awami League supporters to create instability.

“We all believe in freedom of expression,” he said, adding that those allegedly trying to create instability were also blaming the government for the situation.

He further alleged that some groups were working together to create disorder and confuse the public.

The event was chaired by Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Md Abu Saeed. Local lawmakers and other officials were also present.
