Two cousin brothers electrocuted at Bhaluka

BHALUKA, MYMENSINGH, Sept 30: Two cousin brothers were electrocuted after becoming entangled in a fallen Palli Bidyut electricity line in Kharowali Village in Bhaluka Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were Dhonu Akand, son of Majid Akand, and his cousin Shahab Uddin Akand, son of Abdul Aziz Akand, both residents of Kharowali.

Locals said Dhonu came into contact with the live wire while cutting grass for cattle. Shahab was electrocuted when he tried to rescue him. Both died on the spot.

The families alleged that the local Palli Bidyut office had been notified about the fallen wire before the accident but they failed to act in time.
 
Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station Zahidul Islam said the bodies were released for burial without autopsy at the families’ request and that legal action would follow.
