Two 17-year-old social activists from Satkhira, Sudipto Debnath and Mushfik Ur Rahman, have been nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize 2026 for their work on children’s rights, climate awareness, justice and education.
Both are Class XII students at Satkhira Government College and have worked for the past four years to combat child marriage, child labour and educational deprivation in coastal communities.
They have conducted awareness campaigns, workshops, webinars and digital programmes promoting child protection, online safety and education. They also said their initiatives helped prevent several child marriages.
The annual award is organised by Amsterdam-based KidsRights Foundation and recognises young people working to promote children’s rights.
Both expressed happiness over the nomination and said they wanted to continue working for children.
