Bangladesh received $2.76 billion in remittances through legal banking channels in September, equivalent to more than Tk 34,000 crore, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
The central bank released the updated monthly remittance figures on Thursday.
According to the data, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $2.766 billion to the country in September, the third month of the 2026-27 fiscal year. The amount was $2.686 billion in September last year, marking a 3 percent year-on-year increase.
The country received $2.86 billion in remittances in July and $2.9666 billion in August.
With this, total remittance inflow during the first three months of the current fiscal year stood at $8.591 billion, up 13.3 percent from $7.586 billion received during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Remittances are one of the major sources of foreign currency for Bangladesh. Increased inflow through formal channels boosts the supply of US dollars, helping meet import payments and maintain balance in external transactions.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh received a record $35.59 billion in remittances during the 2025-26 fiscal year, up $5.26 billion, or 17.3 percent, from $30.329 billion in the previous fiscal year.
