Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s political aide Md Rashed Khan met Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh amir Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, on Friday.
The meeting took place around noon at Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa in the Babunagar area of Fatikchhari.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Rashed Khan said he had gone to seek the Hefazat amir’s prayers. Babunagari prayed for the prime minister and called for the BNP and the people of Bangladesh to uphold Islamic values, he said.
Rashed Khan also said the Hefazat amir had called for cooperation with the current government and stressed the need to maintain unity among forces opposed to the previous political order for rebuilding the state.
The meeting was also attended by Chattogram District Council administrator and BNP central organising secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, Fatikchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sayeed Mohammad Ibrahim and other local political and administrative officials.
