Train services on the down line of the Dhaka-Chattogram route have been suspended after a wheel of a rescue train derailed near Akhaura Railway Station in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
The incident occurred in the afternoon near the station yard as the rescue train was leaving for Sylhet.
Mainul Haque, cabin master of Akhaura Railway Station, said one of the rescue train's wheels derailed while it was leaving the yard, disrupting train movement on the down line.
Train services on the up line of the route remain normal.
Railway workers have started efforts to remove the derailed train, and services on the down line are expected to resume after the recovery operation is completed.
