Carpenter killed by lightning strike in Satkhira

A carpenter was killed by lightning while working in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Shawkat Gazi, 55, son of late Abdul Samad Gazi and a resident of the Kurikahunia Launch Ghat area under Pratapnagar Union of Ashashuni upazila.

The incident occurred in the Banyatala area of Padmapukur Union around noon.

According to his locals, Shawkat was working on a wooden structure in the Banyatala area when light rain began. Suddenly, lightning struck him, killing him on the spot.

Abu Daud Dhali, chairman of Pratapnagar Union Parishad, confirmed Shawkat Gazi's death.
