A special cargo aircraft carrying the second shipment of uranium for Unit-1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has arrived in Dhaka from Russia.
The aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:30 PM on Friday, according to airport authorities.
Earlier, preparations had been completed to bring the uranium shipment on September 24, but the plan was cancelled after Pakistan denied the special cargo aircraft permission to use its airspace.
Pakistan later granted the necessary permission, allowing the shipment to proceed.
The cargo travelled from Russia through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India before arriving at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The uranium will be transported from the airport to Rooppur in Pabna under tight security.
This year, seven uranium shipments are scheduled to arrive for Unit-2 and two for Unit-1 of the power plant.
