
A 50-year-old housewife was found dead at her home in Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur on Sunday morning, with household belongings scattered and an almirah broken open, prompting suspicion of a possible robbery.
The deceased was identified as Jesmin Begum, wife of deceased former police officer Keramat Ali, of Shialkathi village in Shialkathi Union. She was found lying on a bed at her home in the Bandaghata area. The incident reportedly took place sometime between Saturday night (October 3) and Sunday morning.
According to locals, a worker named Mahafuz went to the house around 9:30AM on Sunday to collect betel nuts. After receiving no response despite repeated calls, he entered the house and found Jesmin's body. He then informed neighbours and relatives, who alerted the police. Household items were reportedly found scattered and the almirah broken open.
Kaukhali Police Station OC Anwar Hossain said police recovered the body and sent it to the Pirojpur District Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police Superintendent Muhammad Talebur Rahman and Additional Superintendent of Police (Nesarabad Circle) Pronoy Roy visited the scene. The OC said the incident was being investigated.
