Lebanese singer Nada Dandash died in a road accident on Saturday (October 3). Details of the accident have not yet been disclosed.
Dandash’s death has sparked grief in her hometown of Hermel and among her fans. Her listeners have been sharing clips of her concerts, television appearances and songs on social media, according to Gulf News.
In recent years, Dandash developed a distinctive musical style by combining traditional Arabic tarab music with modern pop. She was also known among her fans as the “Daughter of the Orontes”.
The nickname reflected her strong connection to Hermel in Lebanon’s Bekaa region, where she grew up. The Orontes River, known as the Assi in Arabic, flows through the area.
Dandash gained wider recognition in May 2024 after appearing on LBC’s television programme Al Masrah, hosted by Carla Haddad. She performed “Mashwar Al Hayat”, a popular song originally sung by the late Lebanese singer Nihal Tarabey.
