Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has called for justice for crimes against forcibly displaced Rohingyas.
He made the call during a meeting with Nicholas Koumjian, head of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), at the Secretariat on Monday.
The minister also urged the IIMM to play a stronger role in restoring the rights of Rohingyas and ensuring their sustainable repatriation to Myanmar.
Koumjian said more than 154,000 Rohingyas have crossed into Bangladesh since early 2024, joining over one million already living in the country. Ongoing violence and insecurity in Rakhine have prevented their safe return.
Established in 2019, the Geneva-based IIMM collects, preserves and analyses evidence of serious international crimes committed in Myanmar since 2011 to support criminal proceedings and ensure justice and accountability.
