A court in Islamabad has ordered that jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan be produced in court, either in person or via video link, at the next hearing of a case related to an attack on the judicial complex in the capital.
Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra issued the order during a hearing on Monday.
In 2023, Imran Khan visited the judicial complex to seek bail in a case when his supporters allegedly broke through security gates and vandalised the premises.
Police subsequently filed a case under anti-terrorism laws over the incident. Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023 in connection with multiple cases.
During Monday’s hearing, the court also declared PTI leaders Farooq Habib, Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed and Shibli Faraz absconders for failing to appear in the case and sought details of their assets.
The court also issued non-bailable arrest warrants against former Punjab Assembly speaker Wasik Qayum Abbasi and PTI leader Hassan Niazi.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 5.
