The government has declared November 7 a public holiday to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on Monday.
The meeting also decided that November 7 would be observed as a ‘Kha’ category day under the Cabinet Division’s circular on the observance of national and international days.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved a proposal to declare October 22 a holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja, creating a five-day break for government employees from October 20 to 24.
According to the government holiday calendar, October 20 and 21 are public holidays for Durga Puja. October 22 was originally scheduled as a working day, followed by the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24.
With October 22 declared a holiday, government employees will enjoy a continuous five-day break from October 20 to 24.
This year, Mahalaya will be observed on October 10. Maha Shashthi will be observed on October 16, Maha Saptami on October 17, Maha Ashtami on October 19, Maha Navami on October 20 and Vijaya Dashami on October 21.
