Two tourists were killed and five others injured after a tourist jeep overturned on the Tindu road in Thanchi, Bandarban, on Monday (October 5) afternoon.
Police and locals said a group of seven tourists was returning to Thanchi town after visiting Tindu and nearby tourist spots. The jeep lost control on a remote section of the road and fell into a roadside ditch.
Two tourists died on the spot and five others were injured. Members of a nearby BGB camp, with help from locals, rescued the victims and took them to Chakaria.
The deceased were identified as Md Ziaul, 35, son of Shamsu Mia, and Md Jasim, 37, son of Mozaher Hossain, both from Khutakhali in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar.
Bandarban Police Superintendent Wahabul Islam Khandakar confirmed the incident, saying initial information indicated that two people were killed and three injured. He said collecting detailed information was taking time due to the remote location.
