Fire at Mymensingh garage destroys 12 vehicles

A fire broke out at a battery-run auto-rickshaw garage in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, early Tuesday, destroying 11 auto-rickshaws and a motorcycle.

Goods and a refrigerator at an adjacent grocery shop were also damaged. The total loss was estimated at around Tk 10 lakh.

The fire broke out around 3:30 AM at Idris Auto Garage in Mamarishpur area of Mallikbari Union while the vehicles were being charged. Fire officials said an electrical short circuit may have caused the blaze.

Two units of Bhaluka Fire Station brought the fire under control after about an hour. No one was injured.

Fire officials said the garage did not have a fire licence.
