Tourist girl dies after scarf gets caught in autorickshaw

A 17-year-old tourist died after her scarf became entangled in the wheel of an autorickshaw while she was travelling with her family in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 10:00 AM near Sugandha Point in the town. 

The deceased was identified as Seema Akter, 17, a resident of Ward No. 4 of Debidwar Municipality in Cumilla.

According to family, Seema and her family members were returning to their hotel by autorickshaw after visiting the beach when her scarf became caught in the vehicle’s wheel and wrapped around her neck. She was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead.

Confirming the incident, Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station said, "the body was kept at the hospital morgue and would be handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures."
