A 60-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son during an altercation in Shibpasha of Ajmiriganj upazila in Habiganj on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Md Sab Uddin Mistry, 60. The incident took place around noon in the Andabari Beel area under Ward No. 3 of Shibpasha Union.

According to locals, Sab Uddin’s son Efin Mia had allegedly been addicted to drugs for a long time, and he often quarrelled with his father over money for drugs.

During an altercation on Tuesday, Efin allegedly struck his father in the neck with a locally made weapon, leaving him dead at the scene. Locals later detained Efin and handed him over to police.
