Ganguly named Delhi Capitals head coach

Sourav Ganguly has been named Delhi Capitals head coach for the 2027 Indian Premier League, marking his first stint as an IPL head coach.

Ganguly replaces Hemang Badani, who guided Delhi to a sixth-place finish in the 2026 IPL. The former India captain joined the franchise as an advisor in 2019 and later served as its Director of Cricket.

Ganguly also made his coaching debut with Delhi’s sister franchise Pretoria Capitals in the South African SA20 league last year. He said Delhi Capitals is a franchise “very close to my heart” and that he was looking forward to building a “strong and fearless team.”
