Bangladesh and Germany have pledged to strengthen their longstanding bilateral ties through greater partnership, stability and sustainable development.
German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Rüdiger Lotz made a courtesy call on Bangladesh Foreign Affairs State Minister Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
The ambassador congratulated Kabir on assuming his new responsibilities and expressed hope for further deepening relations between the two countries.
The state minister praised Germany’s longstanding engagement and development cooperation with Bangladesh and expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, education, skills development, renewable energy, climate action, culture, and migration and mobility.
The meeting also covered various bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. The two sides exchanged views on expanding the Bangladesh-EU partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation at relevant international forums.
Ambassador Lotz reiterated Germany’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on concluding a Bangladesh-EU free trade agreement (FTA) soon, increasing cooperation in the aviation sector, and promoting trade, investment and people-to-people contacts.
He also highlighted the importance of stability in Bangladesh following the election and noted growing interest among German companies in the country’s investment-friendly environment.
Both sides expressed hope that continued high-level engagement would further strengthen and expand the longstanding Bangladesh-Germany partnership.
