Bangladeshi stars bid emotional farewell to Messi

When Lionel Messi stood on the football stage in the blue-and-white jersey for the last time, time itself seemed to stand still. Amid the emotions filling the stands and the poignant moment of farewell on the pitch, this football superstar made his final international chapter memorable with his signature magic. In his last match for the national team, he contributed a goal and two assists, leading Argentina to a 3–0 victory over Benin. Thus, Messi bid adieu to international football on a winning note.
However, the emotion around Messi's farewell match wasn’t just confined to the stadium or the stands. Like millions of fans worldwide, Bangladeshi stars also took to social media to express their feelings. Their words—reflecting love, cherished memories and the sorrow of an era coming to an end—centred on their beloved star's final international game. Among those fans are Pori Moni and Purnima.
Dhaka film actress Dilara Hanif Purnima wrote about Messi, "Put all of life's sorrows on one side, and on the other, the pain of seeing Messi in the Argentina jersey—perhaps for the very last time!"
Actress Pori Moni, in a long and emotional social media post, described Messi's farewell not merely as a match, but as the conclusion of an era. She wrote, "Today's game isn't just a match... it marks the final chapter of an era. Our beloved 'Number 10' will step onto the field one last time wearing that Argentina jersey—a jersey he made his dream, his pride, and a part of his life. So many nights spent staying up to watch him play, so many cheers after goals, so many tears after defeats—it all flashes before my eyes today.
"I may never forget the joy of seeing Messi holding that 2022 World Cup trophy. Whatever the scoreline turns out to be today, victory or defeat no longer matters. Today, I simply want to gaze at him to my heart's content in that blue-and-white jersey one last time. It is not a final goodbye, Leo; you will forever remain in the history of football. Small-screen actor Irfan Sajjad also expressed his emotions regarding Messi's farewell moment. He wrote, "The miracle-maker of our golden era, even though your journey has come to an end, you will remain in our memories forever! One last time—Lionel Messi."
Meanwhile, musician Belal Khan wrote, "Thank you, Leo. Legends leave the field, not the heart. Leo Messi will forever remain in our hearts. You were our emotion, our childhood and our pride. Love you forever, Lionel Messi."
