Child's body recovered from pond in Mymensingh

The body of a four-year-old girl was recovered from a pond near her home in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday, a day after she went missing.

The body of the child, Mashtura, daughter of Abu Saeed, was recovered from a pond in Paschim Dhurail (Hajibari) village under Dhurail Union around 7 AM.

Haluaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin confirmed the matter.

The child went missing from near her home on Tuesday. Family members searched different places but failed to find her.

On Wednesday morning, locals spotted her body floating in a nearby pond and informed the police.

The body was sent to the morgue for autopsy, the OC said. An investigation into the incident is underway.
