State Minister for Liberation War Affairs and lawmaker representing the Dhaka-6 constituency, Ishraque Hossain, has written to the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) requesting the urgent relocation of the Dholaikhal truck stand.
The letter was submitted to the Chief Executive Officer of DSCC on Monday (October 5).
Highlighting public suffering in his constituency, Ishraque noted that the existing truck stand in Dholaikhal severely disrupts traffic flow and pedestrian movement. He pointed out that heavy vehicles parked on the roads cause persistent traffic congestion, severe noise and air pollution, and road safety hazards, particularly during peak operating hours.
Ishraque emphasized that operating a truck stand in a densely populated and major commercial hub like Dholaikhal contradicts public interest, urban road management, and environmental standards. He urged the city corporation to conduct a site inspection, evaluate alternatives, and identify a suitable location to ensure planned, safe, and citizen-friendly urban management.
Given the public interest and urgency of the matter, the State Minister requested DSCC to prioritize the relocation and keep him updated on progress and measures taken.
