Youth electrocuted while cleaning coconut tree

A 28-year-old man died after coming into contact with an electric wire while cleaning a coconut tree in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:30 AM at a house in Telijana area, where Pappu Sarkar was working.

Pappu was the son of Enamul Sarkar of Sherpur upazila. He had been living with his family at his father-in-law’s house in Telijana. He earned his living by cleaning trees.

According to local sources, Pappu was cleaning a coconut tree at the house of Aminul Islam when he accidentally came into contact with a nearby electric wire and suffered an electric shock.

Fire Service personnel later reached the spot and rescued him.

Raiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ahsanuzzaman said police were sent to the scene after receiving information about the incident. Necessary action would be taken following an investigation.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
