Two workers killed in brick kiln wall collapse

Two workers were killed and two others injured when a wall and a stack of bricks collapsed on them at a brick kiln in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday.

The accident occurred around 12:00 PM at a brick kiln in Dakshin Char Pumdi area of Pumdi Union.

The deceased were identified as Md Utpal, son of Mohammad Ali, and Golap Mia, son of Safir Uddin. Both were residents of Dakshin Char Pumdi village.

According to police and local sources, several workers were working at Sajal's brick kiln in the area when a wall and rows of bricks placed on it suddenly collapsed on four workers.

Local residents rushed to the scene and helped rescue the workers. Utpal and Golap Mia died at the scene, while the two injured workers were taken to Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Hossainpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rashedul Islam said police visited the scene after receiving information about the accident.

He said necessary legal action would be taken following an investigation. The bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue of Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
