Two youths fled after leaving an unidentified man’s body at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon.
The men brought the body to the hospital around 2:30 PM on October 9 and left after saying they would collect a ticket for the patient, hospital staff and police said.
The deceased, estimated to be between 45 and 50 years old, has not yet been identified. A wallet containing Tk 30 and a photograph was found in his pocket.
According to police and emergency department staff, the two youths brought the man to the hospital in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. After placing him on a trolley, they said they would buy a hospital ticket and left. When the trolley attendant could not find them after waiting for a long time, he informed the medical officer and on-duty police personnel.
Mohammad Habibur Rahman, inspector and in-charge of the hospital police camp, confirmed that the two youths who brought the man to the hospital could not be traced.
He said there were no visible injury marks on the man’s body. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy, which is expected to establish the cause of death.
