Bogura commemorates July Uprising

BOGURA, Oct 9: A memorial discussion was held in Bogura on Friday to mark the second anniversary of the July 2024 uprising, with speakers paying tribute to those killed during the movement and calling for greater support for their families and due recognition of the July fighters.

The programme was organised by the July-24 Shaheed Paribar Society of Rajshahi Division at Shaheed Titu Auditorium in the district in the afternoon.

Ujjwal Hossain Jobayel, president of the society’s Rajshahi divisional unit, chaired the meeting, while its general secretary, Shamsul Haque Fakir, moderated the event.

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku addressed the gathering virtually as the chief guest. He said the government has undertaken various programmes to support the welfare of July fighters and the families of those killed during the uprising. He urged participants to support the government’s initiatives and strengthen the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain, MP, addressed the programme as the chief speaker.

 State Minister for Public Administration Abdul Bari, lawmaker Rezaul Karim Badsha, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Chairman Professor Rafiqul Islam, Bogura City Corporation Administrator MR Islam Swadhin, Bogura District Council Administrator AKM Ahsanul Tayyeb Zakir, Bogura Deputy Commissioner Toufiqur Rahman, and Rural Development Academy Director General Dr Abdul Majid, among others, spoke.
