A meeting on human-elephant conflict in Jhinaigati, Sherpur, was disrupted by several power cuts on Saturday, causing dissatisfaction among guests, officials and BNP leaders.
The meeting was held at the Jhinaigati Upazila Parishad auditorium in the Garo Hills area around 4pm, with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo as the chief guest.
The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Farida Yasmin. Sherpur-3 MP Mahmudul Haque Rubel and Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hossain Chowdhury also attended.
After the administration informed the Power Development Board’s executive engineer about the interruptions, electricity supply remained uninterrupted during the final part of the programme.
Executive Engineer Md Shahabuddin said there was no scheduled load-shedding at the time, but a fault in the power line could have caused the outages.
