Actress Shabnaz has expressed happiness over the enduring popularity of the iconic dialogue “Uncle, Where Is Hena?” from the 1996 Bangladeshi film Premer Somadhi, which continues to attract attention on social media nearly three decades after its release.
The memorable scene, featuring Bapparaj as Bakul and Shabnaz as Hena, has repeatedly gone viral on social media, attracting both nostalgic reactions from longtime fans and interest from younger audiences.
Directed by Iftekhar Jahan, the film was written by Delwar Jahan Jhantu, who handled its story, dialogues and screenplay. Anwar Hossain and Amit Hasan also played important roles.
In the famous scene, Bakul returns home after a long absence and finds Hena’s house decorated for a wedding. He asks her father why the house is decorated and where Hena is. When her father reveals that Hena has already been married, Bakul refuses to believe the news, delivering the emotional lines that have since become widely recognised among Bangladeshi film audiences.
Speaking in an interview, Shabnaz said she feels happy that audiences still remember the film and remain emotionally connected to its story, dialogues and performances.
She believes the film’s compelling story, direction and acting have helped it retain a special place in viewers’ hearts over the years.
Shabnaz is currently away from acting and spends her time with her husband, actor Naim, and their two children. She has no plans to return to the screen, saying she wants to focus on her family, religious activities and helping disadvantaged people.
Despite staying away from films, Shabnaz continues to receive affection and appreciation from audiences. She considers their love one of the greatest rewards of her acting career.
