BSF attempt to push-in 10 thwarted

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push 10 individuals into Bangladesh across the borders of Gangni in Meherpur and Kushtia. But the attempt was foiled by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel.

The individuals were subsequently taken back into Indian territory.

Kushtia 47 BGB Battalion disclosed this information in a press release on Sunday (October 11).

According to BGB sources, the BSF attempted to push six people into Bangladesh early in the morning through the border area under the jurisdiction of the Rangmahal Border Outpost (BOP) in GangniUpazila, Meherpur.

Later, around 8:00 AM, as the BGB strengthened its alert position at the border, members of the BSF's 11th Battalion (Dighalkandi Camp) took the individuals back into India.

Meanwhile, around 7:45 AM on the same day, the BSF attempted to push another four individuals-- two men and two women--into Bangladesh through the area under the jurisdiction of the Thotarpara BOP in Kushtia.

That attempt was also foiled by 8:00 AM thanks to the alertness of BGB personnel; the press release stated that the BSF was subsequently compelled to take them back.

Rashed Kamal Roni, Commander of the Kushtia 47 BGB, stated that regular BGB patrols in the border areas have been intensified.

He further added that the overall situation in the border areas remains normal and is under BGB control.
