Bangladesh Railway will operate three pairs of special trains and cancel the weekly off-days of five trains to handle increased passenger demand during the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
The decisions were taken at a meeting on Durga Puja preparations at the conference room of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Robiul Alam, minister for road transport and bridges, shipping, and railways.
Under the plan, Dhaka Special-3 from Chattogram to Dhaka will operate on October 20. Tourist Special-1 and Tourist Special-2 on the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar–Dhaka route will run on October 20, 23 and 24. Chattogram Special-4 on the Dhaka–Chattogram route will operate on October 24.
