Opposition leaders of the INDIA bloc will march from India Gate to the Supreme Court on Monday (October 12) and meet Chief Justice of India Surya Kant between 4PM and 5PM to raise concerns over alleged electoral irregularities and police action against protesters.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to meet the CJI to seek his intervention over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and restrictions on protests. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is also expected to join the march.
The opposition has demanded action over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Kharge said the leaders would request the CJI to consider their concerns rather than make demands.
