CHATTOGRAM, Oct 11: Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) workers and labor organizations including the Port Protection Committee have announced a five-hour token mass hunger strike on Monday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in protest against leasing of New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to Dubai-based DP World.
The hunger strike will be held in front of the One Stop Service Centre, main administrative building of the Chattogram Port Authority, said Tapan Dutt, a Trade Union Cenctre (TUC) leader. Workers and allied platforms�"such as the Chattogram Bandar Rokkha Sangram Parishad and Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP)�"are demanding that the NCT be operated under Bangladeshi management and that the deal be scrapped or discussed through stakeholder consultations.
