CUET VC enters administration building breaking lock

He arrived at the university’s campus in Raozan around 8:45AM and entered the building before proceeding to the vice-chancellor’s office.

Students have been protesting for several weeks against the appointment of the new vice-chancellor, demanding the reinstatement of former VC Professor Dr Abu Sadeq Mohammad Sayem. As part of their movement, they have boycotted classes and examinations and staged various protest programmes.

A section of the university’s teachers, officers and employees has also been observing work abstentions in support of the demand, bringing academic and administrative activities to a standstill.

Following Sheikh Shariful Alam’s appointment, uncertainty had surrounded his presence on campus amid the ongoing protests and work stoppages, which disrupted the university’s normal operations.

His entry into the administrative building on Monday after the lock was broken marks a new development in the standoff.

Attempts to contact the vice-chancellor by phone for comment were unsuccessful.
