Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) coach Mohammad stressed producing more quality pacers to complement the fast bowlers who have recently hogged the limelight by being instrumental in country's some memorable overseas victories.
Alongside senior pacers like Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain, Syed Khaled Ahmed and Nahid Rana have of late showed their capabilities and emerged as match winners.
However, Salahuddin believes the priority should be to bring more bowlers up to the standard of the leading pacers.
"The golden age is actually going to the top five-six bowlers but the rest are not reaching their level. There are five or six very good bowlers. Our goal is to bring the others close to their level," he said during a pacer hunt activity at the academy ground in Mirpur.
Salahuddin also stressed the importance of increasing the number of quality fast bowlers in domestic cricket, saying a stronger pool of pacers would help batters improve by exposing them to more competitive bowling.
"It will not be possible with just five. If good bowlers do not play in domestic cricket, the batters will not improve. So the number of good pacers should increase," he added.
The coach also praised Hasan Mahmud's performance in the Abu Dhabi Test against Afghanistan, describing his bowling as outstanding despite the challenging pitch conditions.
"The way Hasan bowled on a wicket where there was no bounce or movement was outstanding," Salahuddin said."BSS
