Experienced batter Sabbir Rahman has been included in Bangladesh's seven-member squad for the Hong Kong Sixes, adding international experience to a side led by pace bowler Abu Haider Rony.
The tournament will be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong from October 30 to November 1. Bangladesh have been drawn in Group B alongside Sri Lanka and Scotland. The squad comprises Rony, Samiun Bashir, Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Ahrar Amin, Sabbir and Habibur Rahman Sohan.
Sabbir's inclusion adds an aggressive batting option to the squad for a format that places a premium on quick scoring and adaptability. His experience at the international level could prove valuable in a competition where teams have limited time to build innings and recover from setbacks.
Rony will lead the side as Bangladesh seek to make an impact in the fast-paced tournament, which features 12 teams. Their group-stage performances will determine their route into the subsequent knockout competitions.
Bangladesh reached the Plate final in the previous edition but narrowly lost to hosts Hong Kong. The team will aim to build on that campaign and make a stronger push this time.
With a blend of experience and emerging talent, Bangladesh will look to adapt quickly to the six-a-side format and challenge their group opponents.
